Martha Ann Purvis Bufford, 76, of Moultrie, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Daryl Crenshaw, Mr. David Plymel, and Rev. Justin Hardy officiating. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Danny Welch, Harley Taylor, Tim Smith, Matthew Purvis, Tony Welch, Noah Welch will all serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be CJ Wiard, Gabe Wiard, Rylee Hardy, Noah Hardy, Chase Hardy, and Blaze Young.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 6pm-8pm, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
Born on November 4, 1946, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Reverend George C. (Ceebee) Purvis and Imogene White Purvis. She worked for many years as a seamstress and later as a store manager. She was a member of Open Door Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Truman Plymel; brothers, Reverend Steve Purvis, Elmer Purvis, Troy Purvis, Rex Purvis, and Ronald Purvis; and sisters, Diane Castleberry and Carolyn Purvis.
Mrs. Bufford is survived by her children, Brenda Hobby of Moultrie and David Plymel and wife Brenda, of Norman Park; grandchildren, Corbett Wiard of Moultrie, Thomas Wiard and wife Justina of Doerun, Jessie Hardy and husband Justin of Moultrie, and Lisa Young and husband Eric of Moultrie; great-grandchildren, CJ Wiard, Gabe Wiard, Emma Wiard, Ella Wiard, Pailey Hardy, Shy Young, Kayte Young, Blaze Young, Rylee Hardy, Chase Hardy, Noah Hardy, Abbygayle Hamm, Hannah Hardy and Andrew Hardy; brother, Rev. Ricky Purvis and wife Wanda of Moultrie; and sister, Peggy Taylor and husband Harlon of Albany; and sisters in law, Margie Castleberry of Savannah and Carolyn Lewis and husband Darrell of Tallahassee, Florida.
