Marvin Junior Powell OMEGA Marvin Junior Powell, 92, of Omega died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Leila United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Powell and the Rev. Roger Mays officiating. Pallbearers will be Travis Hobby, Chad Davis, Kent Golden, Kurt Lynch, Brook Ulm and Josh Roberts. Interment will follow at Leila United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home. Mr. Powell was born November 22, 1919 in Colquitt County. He was a World War II Navy veteran and retired farmer and of the baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Simeon Powell and Cora Baker Powell, his wife of 65 years, Sara Wannelle Weeks Powell; grandsons, Rodney Hobby and Justin Davis; two brothers, Simeon Powell and Ennis Powell; and four sisters, Myrtle Lupo, Bernice Woodall, Ione Lamb and Hazel Intagliata. Mr. Powell is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Kathy Powell of Omega; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Alita Hobby of Omega, Cathy and Farrell Davis of Tifton and Janet and Don Golden of Omega; two brothers, Silas Powell and Paul Powell; sister, Geneva Pickard; grandchildren, Rhonda Ulm, Travis (Mandy) Hobby, Tanya (Rocky) Kleine, Chad (Joy) Davis, Valerie Lynch, Kent Golden, Carrie Golden, April Meeker, Katrina (Jason) Lawson; great-grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Roberts, Briannah Ulm, Brook Ulm, Tyson Hobby, Kelsey Cox, McKenzie Cox, Braydon Kleine, Brooklyne Kleine, Brody Kleine, Breiley Kleine, Jonathan Hobby, Jacob Hobby, Blake Davis, Sadie Davis, Kurt Lynch, Nicole Lynch, Emily Hines, Sydney Meeker, Gracie Meeker and Jace Lawson; great-great-granchild, Lily Roberts. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Leila Community Cemetery Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
