Mary Alma Herrington Champion, 86, of Doerun, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Doerun Baptist Church with Rev. David Benton officiating, assisted by Rev. Tim Henry, Katrina Bivins, and Darrell Sammons. Interment will follow at Pebble City Baptist Church Cemetery in Sale City. Jon Riley Sellers, Clint Thaggard, Daniel Johnson, Ken Paulk, Bobby Wilkes, and Barry Cason will all serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Powell and James Sellers.
Born on February 23, 1935, in Sale City, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late James Riley Herrington and Alma Hall Herrington. She was a dedicated member of Doerun Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elzy Sellers, Sr.; and two sisters, Myrtle Sellers and Louise Paulk.
Mrs. Champion is survived by her sons, Elzy Sellers, Jr. and wife Dana of Baconton, Georgia and Nelson Eugene Sellers and wife Rose of Thomasville; daughters, Kathy Powell and husband Donnie of Doerun and Linda Willis and husband Rick of Moultrie; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Doerun Baptist Church on the day of the service.
