Virginia Cooper Fallin, 96, also affectionately known as "Granny", passed away on June 7, 2012 at her home in Pavo following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on June 9, 2012, at Antioch Baptist Church in Pavo. Pastor Donnie Duncan of Adel and Pastor Ken Chancelor of Albany will officiate with music provided by her grandchildren. Interment will be at Pavo Lebanon Cemetery immediately following the funeral services. Born January 16, 1916 in Embree, Bamberg County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Mamie Tudor. "Granny" loved God, and her family. She had a special love for her church - especially her Sunday School Class - and was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church until health issue hindered her activities. "Granny" was a homemaker for many years before going to work for Dr. Robert W. Roberts at the Pavo Medical Clinic. After retiring from her job with Dr. Roberts, she cared for children for many years in her home. She married Early Cooper on September 24, 1932 in Pavo, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Early Cooper of Pavo, daughter, Teresa Ann Cooper Gibson of Moultrie and son Wendell Cooper, of Pavo. On January 4, 1976, she married Ufa H. Fallin, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were step-children: James Fallin, John Fallin of Pavo, and Helen Fallin Owens of Thomasville. Survivors include two sons: Dennis Cooper and wife Owieta of Leesburg, and Glenn Cooper of Thomasville; three daughters, Vivian Scarbary of Macon, Jean Green of Valdosta, Linda Baggett of Pavo; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Cooper of Pavo; 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Bernice Cooper of Athens, Essie Mae Cooper of Valdosta and Agnes Reichert of Boston and a number of nieces and nephews. Survivors include step-children: Malvin and Mary Fallin Brinson of Thomasville; Hoyt Fallin of Orlando, Florida; Bill and Gale Fallin of Pavo; Joann Fallin Demott of Thomasville; Ken and Faye Fallin Burgess of Pavo and Peggy Fallin of Thomasville. She is also survived by a number of step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. "Granny" Fallin enjoyed cooking, especially for her children. She will long be remembered for her "chicken n' dumplings," a favorite of all the family. If she knew which family member would be visiting, she would make sure she prepared their favorite food. When the day ended, she would stand in the doorway and wave goodbye until the family was out of sight of her home. The family acknowledges the love and support of the caregivers Marilyn Hagan, Virginia Miller and Marcia Cooper and wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Southern Care Hospice of Moultrie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Baker Funeral Home. Baker Funeral Home
