Max Gay MOULTRIE Max Gay, 80, of Moultrie, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Andy Cashwell officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Gay was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Berlin, Ga. His mother was Aline Gay and stepfather was Roy Folsom, both now deceased, he was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law Jery D. Luke. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was manager for Lisa Motor Lines in Fort Worth, Texas, and he worked at Swift & Co. for many years. He was a member of the Jaycees, Lions Club and Elks Lodge, and he was a Little League baseball coach. He directed the Miss Moultrie pageant for two years. His family said he was an avid golfer and loved to fish and work in the yard. They remembered his great sense of humor. Survivors include his wife, Janet Kalkofen Gay of Moultrie; his daughter, Perri Adams of Moultrie; a brother, Roy E. Folsom Jr. "Buster" and wife Martha of Clayton Ga.; sisters, Shirley Luke of Sylvester, Rebecca Brown and husband Vernon of Jacksonville, Fla., and Martha F. Etheridge and husband Lennis of Albany; granddaughter, Averi Adams; honorary grandchildren, Randi Deal and Michelle Sparks; brother-in-laws, Robert Kalkofen and wife Shirley of St. Louis, MO, Gerald Kalkofen and wife Hazel of Green Bay, WI; and aunts, Mary Hood, Betty Harrell and Dorothy Spruill, all of Moultrie.
