Michael Cadel Dowdney KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Michael Cadel Dowdney, 64, of Knoxville, Tenn., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at his residence. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Herbert Waid officiating, assisted by Ron Dowdney. Keith Gay, Kevin Tompkins, Andy Dowdney, Skyler Dowdney, Eric Carter and Craig Coleman will serve as pallbearers. Born June 7, 1948, in Blakely, Ga., he was the son of the late Rev. C. B. and Beatrice Dowdney. He was retired from being self-employed in construction and he was of the Free Will Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mark Dowdney and Roger Dowdney; and twin sons, Michael Shane Dowdney and Richard Dewayne Dowdney. Survivors include sons, Roger Shane Dowdney and wife Jenny of Tennessee, Kelly Dowdney and wife Virginia of Florida and Anthony Carmichael of Alabama; daughters, Wendy Coleman Carter of Georgia, Volaré Cairns and husband Robert of Virginia and Desire Dowdney of Virginia; brother, Ron Dowdney and wife Betty of TyTy, Ga.; sisters, Ann Dowdney Moxley of Norman Park and Linda Henderson of Moultrie; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be one hour before the graveside service, on Saturday, at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
