Miles Lamar Rountree, Jr., age 85 of Adel, died Wednesday August 22, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday August 25, 2018 at Evergreen Baptist Church of Adel with Pastor Mike Brannon, Pastor A. J. Hall and Pastor Wayne Boykin officiating. Pallbearers will be Seth Rountree, Gage Hathcock, Torey Lindsey, Brandon Hathcock, Cass Dorminey, Zackary Connell, Harrison Waller, Brock Rountree, Carson Merwin, Gavin Merwin and Jeff Hopkins. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Thigpen, Gilbert Thigpen, Chip Rountree, Brent Bloser, Mack Chaney, Clint Rountree, Luke Rountree, Colin Millison, Dale Franklin, Lorin Pezent, Bruce Thigpen, Joey Thigpen and Greg Moody. Interment will be in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born August 6, 1933 in Adel he was the son of the late Miles Lamar Rountree, Sr. and Helen Moncreif Thigpen Rountree. Mr. Rountree was a retired supervisor from Weyerhaeuser , a retired farmer, served 8 years in the U.S. Army and was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Phil Rountree and a daughter, Sylvia Hathcock and sisters Mary and Martha Rountree.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Faye Rountree of Adel; son, Michael Rountree and wife Dee Dee of Adel; daughter, Gaye Rountree of Adel; brother, Johnny Rountree and wife Vivian of Norman Park; grandchildren, Melony Carter (Jessie) of Adel, Seth Rountree (Beth) of Valdosta, Brandon Hathcock (Emily) of Valdosta, Gage Hathcock Adel, Torey Lindsey (Courtney) of St. Petersburg, FL, Zackary Connell (Perri) of Philadelphia, Kayla Hopkins (Jeff) of Adel, Courtney Dorminey (Cass) of Nashville, Brock Rountree of Albany; great grandchildren, Gavin Merwin (Jess), Carson Merwin, Sara Beth Rountree, Harrison Waller, Maggie Hathcock, Maddox Hathcock, Chloe Byrd, Finnleigh Hopkins, Laegan Dorminey, Hayze Dorminey and Evie Krae Dorminey.
Visitation will be 6-8 Friday August 24, 2018 at Baker Funeral Home and 1-2 Saturday August 25, 2018 prior to service at the Church.
