Nancy Lynn Minchew

Nancy Ricks Minchew, 71, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the chapel at Baker Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Cobb/Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.

Born on November 12, 1953, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Raiford Ricks and Fannie Blackburn Ricks. She worked as a truck driver for many years. Ms. Minchew found joy in the simple pleasures of life—crocheting with care, tending to her yard with pride, and walking the grounds in search of pecans, a quiet ritual she adored. Her creations, both in yarn and in life, were made with patience, purpose, and love. She was of the Baptist faith.

A nurturing spirit, she gave generously of her time and wisdom, and her home was always a place of comfort and warmth. She taught us that beauty is in the details—whether in a finely stitched pattern, a freshly swept porch, or a basket of pecans gathered one by one.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Don Vincent Minchew, Jr.; sisters Dorothy Lee Hancock and Betty Joann Herndon; and brothers John Ricks, Eugene Clifford Ricks, George Thomas Ricks, and Raymond Ray Ricks.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Pope, Dewayne Ricks and wife Renae, Christopher Barden, and Donna Gray; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Randy Ricks, and Roy Ricks; sisters, Wanda Herndon, Mary Alice Simmons, and Cathy Bass; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
