Nellie Rebecca Hasty Solis, of Meigs, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Archbold Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Solis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Lakeside Assembly of God with Rev. Tom Lawrence, Rev. Steve Comer, and Rev. Paul Milligan officiating. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Bryan Levandoski, Nate Jimenez, Carlos Charles, Alex Jimenez, and Scotty Barnes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Marco Mata, Jr., Austin Mata, Christian Mata, and Tyler Smithwick.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
Born on December 6, in Pelham, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late JD Hasty and Alma Miller Hasty. Mrs. Solis worked as a bookkeeper/ accountant for the family business. She was a faithful member of the Lakeside Assembly of God. She served in many capacities at the church, from her most recent position as the “SAM” Senior Adult Ministry Director, previously serving as Sunday School Director and Children’s Church Director for the four and five-year-olds. She loved her family and her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jamie Smithwick; and brothers, Dewayne Hasty, Delmar Hasty, and Cecil Hasty.
She is survived by her loving husband, Guillermo “Willie” Solis of Meigs; children, Angie Mata and husband Marco of Meigs, and Freddie Smithwick, III of Moultrie; grandchildren, Freddie Smithwick, IV of Moultrie, Tyler Smithwick and fiancée Melody of Tallahassee, Jennifer Rogers of South Carolina, Marco Mata, Jr. and wife Hailey of Murfreesboro, TN, Carrie Mata and fiancé Bryan of Valdosta, Austin Mata and Christian Mata, both of Meigs; great-grandchildren, Meredith Mata, Ava Mata, Kinsley Smithwick, Lakyn Smithwick, Emmy Smithwick, Noah Rogers, and Candance Rogers; sisters, Sarah Romero and husband Don of Moultrie, Edna Yon of Moultrie, Hazel Jones and husband John of Albany, Marianne Slappey of Albany, Faye Hasty, and Jeanette Hasty Holden; brother, Kirby Goff and wife Evie of Ochlocknee; special niece, Jenny Barnes, and several other nieces and nephews.
