Orlean Pope Newberry NORMAN PARK Orlean Pope Newberry, 73, of Norman Park, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., today, April 30, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Morey officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery with David Vaughan, K.J. Newberry, Nick Vaughan, Kevin Myrick, Jerry Henson and Kyle Ives serving as pallbearers. Born Aug. 5, 1939, in Alabama, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest Pope and Evie Lee Brand Pope. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Allen Newberry; brothers, James David Pope and Buddy Wood Survivors include her husband, Billy Newberry of Norman Park; sons, James Lamar Vaughan and wife Regenia of Moultrie, Eddie Vaughan and wife Linda of Pavo, David Vaughan and companion Lisa of Valdosta, and Kenny Newberry and wife Trisha of Doerun; a daughter, LeRay Layfield and husband Rick of Moultrie; sisters, Myrt Buckler of Sylvester, Ga., and Libby Howerington and friend Jack of Pavo; grandchildren, Nick Vaughan, Jennifer Henson Vaughan, Jessica Vaughan Summerlin, Victoria Vaughan, Dawn Vaughan, K.J. Newberry, Glenn Strickland, Jenna Strickland Ives, Chassidy Newberry, Keri Newberry, Tina Postlewaite, Kevin Myrick, Robbie Myrick, Michael Myrick, Andre Martinez, Issak Martinez, Christian Martinez, Adriana Garcia, Juan Garcia, Matt Belcher, Savannah Belcher, Laura McGee, T.J. Rock and Colby Rock; 14 great-grandchildren; adoptive daughters, Alicia Myrick of Norman Park and Carol Garcia of Plant City, Fla.; a special friend, Angie Vaughan of Lake Park, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be today, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Southern Hospice Care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
