Paul Maxwell Max' Herndon Sr. MOULTRIE Paul Maxwell "Max" Herndon Sr., 76, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Park Regency of Moultrie. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 6, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hugh Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Larry Franklin, Aldine Hart, Rentz Murphy, Paul Maxwell Herndon III, Julius Cox and Bruce Vines serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Colquitt County Sheriff's Department. Born Aug. 1, 1936, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Paul John Herndon and Erma Dees Herndon. He received his master's degree in agronomy from the University of Georgia. He was the state director of the Farmers Home Administration and was past president of Ag Georgia Farm Credit of Moultrie. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Hospital Authority. He was a Colquitt County farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ann Moore Herndon of Moultrie; sons, Paul M. "Pete" Herndon Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Moultrie, William Hughes Herndon and partner Jeff Harris of Moultrie and Atlanta and Lewis Dees Herndon and wife Diane of Moultrie; a sister, Mavis Herndon Murphy and husband Rentz of Moultrie; and grandchildren, Paul M. Herndon III and fiancée Amanda Eade of Moultrie, Mallory and John Melvin Herndon of Moultrie. Visitation will be today, June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
