Rex Williams

James Rex Williams, 75, of Hartsfield, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2024, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, with Reverend John Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Hartsfield, Georgia. Michael Heard, Jayce Heard, Timmy Norman, Billy Hickman, Herk Miles, Danny Willis, Jerry Maxwell, and Wayne Hancock will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Born on April 24, 1949, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of Myrtle Gunn Williams and the late Freddie F. Williams. He was a proud veteran who served with honor and dedication in the United States Army. Following his military service, Mr. Williams retired from Windstream after 48 years as Network Manager. His grandson, the light of his life, was his pride and joy, and he poured his heart into giving him everything. He especially loved attending his grandson's baseball games, never missing a chance to cheer him on from the stands. These moments brought him immense happiness and pride, creating cherished memories for all who knew him. His unwavering support and love for his family were evident in all he did, leaving a legacy of devotion and kindness. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Temple Baptist Church. 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Williams; and brothers-in-law, Harry Faircloth and Willie Crawford; and sister-in-law, Edith Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Wimberly Williams of Moultrie; daughter, Jill Williams Gunn and husband Shawn of Hartsfield; mother, Myrtle Gunn Williams of Moultrie; grandson, Kayden Gunn of Hartsfield; brother, Johnny Williams of Moultrie; and sisters, Sheila Stringfellow and husband Hugh of Moultrie, Wanda Faircloth of Camilla, and Linda Crawford of Moultrie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
