Robert "Bob" Blumenthal

Robert "Bob" Blumenthal, 70, of Miami, Florida passed away on June 18. Bob was born in Flushing, NY and moved to Miami at age 7, growing up in the Pinecrest area where he attended all three Palmetto schools. He studied architecture at Georgia Tech but after what was originally planned as a short stint helping with his father's business he began his 30+ year career as a childrens' clothing merchandise rep. After his retirement, he reinvented himself as everyone's favorite handy-man "Uncle Bob." His phone never stopped ringing.

Bob was an accomplished photographer and was known for his happiness to share his deep knowledge of equipment, processes, technique, and antique photography. He enjoyed scuba diving and underwater photography and was well known for his green thumb particularly with orchids. His boundless positivity and willingness to both serve his community and share his passions with others led Bob to make a mark on many lives.

Bob is survived by his wife Ellen, their daughters Emily Blumenthal (Gregory Rago) and Ashley Blumenthal (Mark Comer); his father Ed Blumenthal; sisters Bonnie (Gary) Ziegler, Marnie (Lance) Tracy and brother Scott (Sonia) Blumenthal; granddaughter Sylvia Rago; brothers-in-law Scott (Alex) Friedlander and Kirk (Cheryl) Friedlander as well as his nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Bob was also predeceased by his grandson, Louie Rago.

A private graveside service was held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Friedlander Memorial Gardens with Rev. Hugh Ward.

The family has asked that donations be made to the Louis Arturo Rago Memorial Fund at MJHS http://mjhsfoundation.org/rago.

Arrangements entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
