Robert Thomas Canady, age 85, passed away October 21, 2018 at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville, NC. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Eugenia Clay Canady.
Born in Colquitt Co., Georgia on November 12, 1932, he was the son of Edgar Peyton Canady and Myra Watson Canady, who have preceded him in death.
In addition to his wife, Eugenia Canady, he is survived by sons, Tim of Asheville, NC and Greg of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Vivien Canady of Atlanta, GA; and grandson, Marshal Canady of Atlanta, GA.
Also surviving him are sisters, Ann Spears of Omega, GA and Linda Oliver of Tifton, GA; brother, Lonnie and his wife Sandra Canady of Omega, GA; as well as one niece and five nephews. His brother, Roy, preceded him in death.
He was a long time resident of Cumming, Forsyth Co., Ga. Recently he moved to Asheville, NC to be in the care of his son, Tim.
He, along with his wife Eugenia, were residents of The Crossings at Reynolds Mountains.
Bob enjoyed a long and blessed life with his family. He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, yard work and fishing with family and friends.
He was employed with Chevron Oil for 37 years. He also worked for C&S National Bank and Dixie Highway Express in Atlanta, GA.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cumming, GA. He did a lot of community service through the years, most notably, Georgia Clean and Beautiful and "The Place" of Forsyth Co., GA for 16 years. You could find him several days of the week picking up trash and giving out food to the needy.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, on an oil tanker for 2, then 2 years on the Staff of Admiral Lowe, Commander Western Sea Frontier as Yeoman 2nd Class.
He attended Norman Park High School. Norman College Southern Business Institute, Georgia Alabama Business School, and Mercer University.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at "The Crossings." A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in south Georgia.
