Robert John Green MOULTRIE Robert John Green died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the home of his sister and brother-in-law in Moultrie. Mr. Green was born at home Oct. 13, 1946, in Perry, Taylor County. He attended Taylor County Schools and graduated from Taylor County High School in June 1964. Shortly thereafter he was called upon to serve his country and on Nov. 10, 1965, was inducted into the United States Army. He completed Basic Training at Ft. Benning, Ga., and jungle warfare training at Ft. Jackson, S.C. At Ft. Bragg. N.C., he was assigned to the 519th Military Intelligence Battalion, and was soon enroute to Vietnam. In early 1967, he was assigned to the 525th Military Intelligence Group (Command Support). He remained in Vietnam the remainder of his service returning home the later part of 1967. He was employed with Proctor and Gamble, August 1974, retiring in 2002 from Buckeye for a total of 27 years of continuous employment. He worked as a mechanic with the chemical maintenance division. He is survived by two sons, Michael Anthony Green (Jean) and Robert Don L Green, Perry, Fla.; grandsons Tyler Green and Logan Green of North Carolina; granddaughter Abbigail Rose Green of Perry, Fla.; a brother, Roy Lee Green (Marilyn) of Perry, Fla.; a sister, Virginia Ann McKeehan and brother-in-law and beloved friend Jim McKeehan of Moultrie; nephews and nieces, McCoy Anderson of Gainesville, Fla., Dana Sue Southerland (Mark), Eric Green (Jamie), Tracy Green all of Perry, Fla., Travis Green of Panama City, Fla., and Melisa Baker (Bryan) of Moultrie; great-nephews and -nieces, Benjamin Anderson, Christopher Anderson of Perry, Caitlyn Anderson of Georgia, Drew, Beth and Tony Southerland of Perry, Fla., and Daelynn McKeehan and Jake Baker of Moultrie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney (B.M.) Green Jr. and Vera Ward Green, and a brother, Bobbie McCoy Green. Family will receive friends Thursday, May 14, between 6 until 8 p.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors' will be at held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, at Pisgah Cemetery. Mr. Green requested that those who felt so inclined should give to the Vietnam Disabled Veterans Group or to Wounded Warriors organizations.
