MOULTRIE Rosa Mae Weeks Plymel , 92, of Moultrie, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Baker Funeral Home with her great-nephew, the Rev. Eric Foster-Whiddon, officiating. Born Sept. 14, 1920, in the Cool Springs community, she was the daughter of Latisha Vickers Weeks and Grady Green Weeks. She was a descendant of the Vickers and Weeks families, who were pioneers in the settling of the Cool Springs area of Colquitt County in the early to mid-19th century. She was an avid family historian and assisted her sister, Ruby Weeks Priest, and sister-in-law, Hazel Willis Weeks, in compiling and publishing a genealogy of the Weeks family in Colquitt County. Her family said she was proud of her annual flower garden and was also known among her family and many friends as a good cook, using recipes collected from a lifetime of family reunions and church gatherings. She was proud of her roots in the Great Depression, they recalled, and still practiced the art of recycling and reusing everything possible. She was active in church activities for many years at Tyson Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larrie A. Plymel; sons, Brian Kimball Plymel and Grady Wilton Plymel; brothers, Seaborn Bruce Weeks, Grady Woodwin Weeks and Russell Edwin Weeks; and sisters, Annie Grace Norman and Ruby Maude Priest. Survivors include one son, Larrie Grant Plymel and wife Ann of Thomasville; a daughter, Judy Esther Plymel of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren, Heather Plymel-Cason and husband Steve of Lake Park, Ga., Clay Strickland and wife Shelly of Avera, Ga., Erin Wright and husband Kevin of Thomasville, Casey Brooks and husband Ross of Thomasville; great-grandchildren, Emily Cason, Ambree Strickland, Travis Wright, Abigail Wright, Reese Wright and Amelia Wright; step-great-grandchildren: Fletcher Lewis, Troy Lewis and Damien Lewis; special friends, Sara Tanner, Ellen and Farrell Tucker; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family member and friends. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Baker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Weeks Chapel Cemetery Fund, 5327 Cool Springs Road, Norman Park 31771.
