Roy Calvin VanVlake, Jr., 80, of Moultrie, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Moultrie Church of Christ with Pastor Zack Griffin officiating.
Born on May 27, 1944, in Helena, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Roy Calvin VanVlake, Sr., and Anna Alberta Brewer VanVlake. Mr. VanVlake was the owner of Vans Equipment Company and was a member of Moultrie Church of Christ. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Calvin brought joy and laughter to all who knew him with his warm smile, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. Calvin had a passion for sports, especially football and basketball, and cherished the time he spent playing and enjoying these games. He was also a dedicated member of his church, serving as a pillar of faith and strength within the community. Family was the center of Calvin's (papa) world. He found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones and was a source of positivity and inspiration for all. Whether on his tractor or excavator, he enjoyed working with his hands and loved the peaceful moments spent outdoors. Calvin will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering faith, and the love and joy he brought to everyone around him.
Mr. VanVlake is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean DeLoach VanVlake of Moultrie; daughters, Debbie VanVlake Tillman and husband Don, Tina VanVlake Griffin and husband Dwayne, and Torina VanVlake Mobley and husband Mike; grandchildren, Whitney Tillman Wall and husband Daniel, Chandler Calvin Tillman and wife Ansleigh, Harden Lewis Mobley and wife Laura, Devon Tillman Brewer and husband Garrett, Zack Owen Griffin and wife Emily, Johnathan VanVlake Mobley and wife Jessica, Garrett Mitchell Griffin, William Nicholas Mobley and Joseph Luke Mobley; great grandchildren, Van Wall, Landon Wall, Sadie Wall, Jack Brewer, Tilly Brewer, Mattie Claire Tillman, Graham Griffin, Winnie B. Mobley, and Elizabeth Mobley; sister, Hazel Dasher of Valdosta; and extended family, Fonda and Ed Jackson and theirs son, James, Joe and Thomas.
