Ruby L. McPhail Singletary Richter, 91, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ronald Barrett will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Moose, Ed Morris, Sean Morris, Chase Satterfield, Michael Pannell and Matthew Pannell. Mrs. Richter was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Ocilla, Ga., to the late Robert C. McPhail and Ida Johnson McPhail. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and she retired from Rhodes Stationery Co. in 1989 after 34 years as a sales clerk. She was a member of DAVA, where she served as treasurer for 12 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe K. Singletary and Lester J. Richter; brothers, C.R. McPhail, Dennis McPhail, David Edwin McPhail, Johnny McPhail, Robert McPhail and Homer McPhail; and sisters, Ethel Sewell, Mary Ida McPhail Twiford, Grace Bowen and Evelyn McPhail. Survivors include her son, Hal W. Singletary of Moultrie; daughters, Carolyn Singletary Moose and husband Walter of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Frieda Singletary Morris and husband Edward of Charlotte, N.C., Jeanne Singletary Musto and husband Sam of Charlotte, N.C., Shirley Singletary Satterfield of Destin, Fla., and Dot Singletary Pannell of Rocky Mountain, N.C.; one brother, Bob McPhail of Moultrie; two sisters, Judy King of Americus and Vivian Godfrey of Macon; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, Dec. 13, at Baker Funeral Home.
