Samuel “Sam” LaVoy Johnson, 50, of Harned, Kentucky, died at Breckenridge Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 23, 2024.
A celebration of Sam’s life will be held at a later date.
Born on February 23, 1974, in Avondale Estates, Georgia, he was the son of Paul LaVoy Johnson and Bettye Torbett Johnson. From a young age, he exhibited a strong work ethic and a dedication to serving others, qualities that defined his life.
Sam proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he worked in the PMEL division and then the IT division, contributing to the nation’s technological advancements and security. After his military service, he continued his career as a skilled diesel mechanic for Hobdy, Dye & Read, where his expertise and commitment earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
In his personal life, Sam cherished his family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. His kind heart and steadfast dedication to his loved ones will forever be remembered. He was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, David Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Paul LaVoy Johnson and Bettye Torbett Johnson of Loganville, he is survived by his children, Autumn Hanks and fiancé John Flowers of Moultrie, Summer Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, and Kolby Johnson of Summerville, SC; grandchild, Ramses Hanks and a grandchild not yet born, Samuel Flowers; and sisters, Beth Johnson of Loganville, Pattye Casarow and husband Steve of Greenville, SC, and Grace Laster and husband Jeff of Richardson, TX; and his life partner, Melissa Hickey of Harned, Kentucky.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
