Santos Gonzales, Sr., 73, of Moultrie, formerly of Omega, died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Service will be held at 3 o'clock on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Alfonso Gutierrez officiating. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Fernandez, Lorenzo Martinez, Will Luke, Jesse Fujarte, Francisco Gonzalez, Jr., and Danny Fudge.
Born on July 10, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the Eusebio Gonzales and Paula Guzman Gonzales. He was a music promoter in South Georgia and North Florida bringing many famous Tex-Mex groups to the area. He founded Radio La Mexicana where he was known as Don Santos or Chaparrito De Oro. He loved his family, but his pride and joy were his grandkids. He was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ignacio Gonzales; and sisters, Ernestina Moreno, Martina Mireles, and Angelita Ontiveros.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Avalos Gonzales of Moultrie; sons, Eric Q. Gonzales and wife Kristi of Moultrie, Santos Gonzales, Jr. of Sylvester and Efrem Sanchez and Johnna of Tifton; daughters Maria Gonzales of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Will Luke, Mariena McCullough, Trinidad McCullough, Madison Gonzales, Anabele Gonzales, Laura Gonzales, Natilee Gonzales, Leticia Jeter and husband Mark, Gabby Gonzalez-Fernandez and husband Robert, Maricela Gonzalez, Francisco Gonzalez, Jr., and Jesse Fujarte; great grandchildren, Arianna Jeter and Delilah Jeter; brother, Eusebio Gonzalez and wife Theresa; sisters, Maria Martinez, and Genoveva Sanchez, all of San Antonio; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 6pm-8pm in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
