Sara Jo Chafin Hornbuckle (photo) OMEGA Sara Jo Chafin Hornbuckle, 75, of Omega, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at First Baptist Church of Norman Park with burial in Omega Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Voyles will officiate. Johnnie Nipper, Daniel Chafin, Bryant Chafin, Andy Hornbuckle, Shannon Hornbuckle and Ronnie Hornbuckle will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Hornbuckle was born June 8, 1937, in Moultrie, daughter of Lester Bryant Chafin Sr. and Doris Ethel Woodall Chafin. She was an insurance agent and a member of First Baptist Church of Norman Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Lavon Griffin Sr., Billy Gibbs and Jimmy Hornbuckle; and two brothers, Danny Chafin Sr. and Lester Chafin Jr. Survivors include a son, Lavon Melvin Griffin Jr. and wife Betty Sue of Norman Park; a daughter, Cindy Griffin Lee and husband Patrick of Tifton; a sister, Diane Chafin of Norman Park; a sister-in-law, Patsy Chafin of Norman Park; a special friend Johnnie Nipper; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
