Shirley J. Hackle Bennett, 72, of Valdosta, formerly of Moultrie, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Dee officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Church Cemetery with Brooks Wade, Jeremy Hancock, Roger Williams, Elijah Harper, Michael Freeman and Josh Harper serving as pallbearers. The Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Curtis, James Curtis, Steven Curtis and Sara Curtis. Born March 14, 1939, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Jessie James Hackle and Dorothy Mae Butler Hackle. She was employed in the cutting room at Sunstate Sportswear. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Marie Curtis; brother, James Wesley Hackle; and sister, Dorothy "Pee Wee" Pasciak. Survivors include her sons, Billy Curtis and friend Melanie of Moultrie and Glenn Curtis and fiancée Melissa of Quitman, Ga.; her companion, Doug Singletary of Valdosta, Ga.; brothers, Frank Hackle and wife Diane of Greensburg, Ky., and Roy Hackle and wife Sally of Ellenton, Fla.; sisters, Geraldine Williams and husband Marvin of Moultrie, Diane Tovar and husband Manuel of Valdosta, Ga., Blue Hackle of Moultrie, Debra Banks and husband Tim of Whitesburg, Ga., and Glenda Hancock of Moultrie; grandchildren, Jessie Curtis, James Curtis, Steven Curtis and Sara Curtis; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Curtis, Alana Keigans, Laila Curtis, Jaden Curtis, Braxton Curtis, Lucas Baker, Dakota Curtis, Jayleigh Mac Millan and Jasmine Pope.
