Silene Elizabeth Kimsey Baker VALDOSTA Silene Elizabeth Kimsey Baker, 96, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert McCoy officiating. Interment to follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Born Feb. 23, 1918, in Cleveland, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Silas Kimsey and Mamie Shuler Kimsey. She was a homemaker and an active member of Autreyville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Major William Dick Baker; brothers, Talmer, Arnold, Richard and Harold Kimsey; and a sister, Vista Robertson. Survivors include her daughter, Julia Baker Brannon and husband John Allen of Deland, Fla.; a brother, James Kimsey of High Point, N.C.; and a sister, Blanche Nicholson of Whitsett, N.C.
