Stephen Lynn Roberts

Stephen Lynn Roberts, 32, of Athens, Ga., and formerly of Moultrie, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, in Benton, Wash. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Jordon officiating. Mr. Roberts was born Jan. 28, 1979, in Moultrie to Cathy and Terry Roberts. He was of the Holiness faith and worked as a pilot escort driver for Shane Triple T and Pilot Escort Service. He was assistant manager for Hibbett Sports for nine years. His family said he had a love of music and was very talented. He played and sang in numerous bands and performed solos. In 2007 he wrote songs and played all the instruments in his album, "My Life in Words." In addition to his parents, Cathy and Terry Roberts of Moultrie, he is survived by his wife, Yai Banks Roberts of Athens; two daughters, Arilynn Roberts of Athens and Kayleigh Lacey of Moultrie; two sisters, Angela Carter and husband Derrick of Adel and Leanna Padgett and husband Grady of Valdosta; his grandmother, Shirley Glasgow of Moultrie; three nieces, Hannah Padgett, Kyla Carter and Macey Padgett; two nephews, Nathan Carter and Ein Padgett; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vera Roberts, and his father-in-law, Willie L. Banks Sr.
