VETERAN Rev. Steve E. Johnson SUMNER Rev. Steve E. Johnson, 77, of Sumner died Thursday, November 7, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Johnson and Rusty Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Johnson, Leon E. Johnson, James E. Johnson, Dennis Futch, Alexander Futch, Marcus Johnson and Christopher Spradley. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Baker Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson was born September 26, 1936 in Pearson. He was a retired carpenter and retired pastor. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a sister, Willa Dean Jacobs. He is survived by his wife, Linda Evans Johnson of Sumner; sons, Steve E. Johnson II of Douglas, Leon E. Johnson and wife Georgia of Fitzgerald, John E. Johnson and wife, Sheila of Leesburg; daughters, Angela D. Futch and husband, Dennis of Moultrie, Donna D. Griffin and husband Rusty of Moultrie and Etta E. Smith of Broxton; sisters, Jimmie Castleman of Texas, Sue Akel and husband Mike of Jacksonville, Fla. and Tina Spires of Douglas; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
