Susie Mae Sangster Croft, 89, of Moultrie, died on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Wiard officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Church Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Larry Broderick, Ethan Council, J.C. Conley, Cole Mobley, Doug Sangster, and Vincent Williams. Born on October 6, 1928, in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late Julius Martin Sangster and Nellie Jane Strawder Sangster. She was a seamstress and member of New Jerusalem Freewill Baptist Church where she played the piano at a young age and last played the piano at age 88 from her wheelchair. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Croft, and her husband and father of her children, S.T. Carruthers; sons, Charles Carruthers, and Tommy Carruthers; and brothers, Noah Sangster and Frank Sangster. Survivors include her daughters, Jane Parrish of Moultrie, and Anne Carroll and husband Thomas of Cordele; 11 grandchildren, Tracey Riddle of Moultrie, Terry Williams of Cairo, Cassey Broderick of North Augusta, S.C., Amanda Laughter of Cordele, Dana Council of Cordele, Chad Carruthers of Moultrie, Tammy Perez of Ft. Myers, Fla., Shelley Schoonderwoerd of Tavistock, Ontario, Canada, Cindy Hyde of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, Hollie Faucheux, of Dothan, Ala., and Savannah Carruthers of Headland, Ala.; 28 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 6pm-8pm in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
