Thomas Gene Megahee Sr. (photo, veteran) NORMAN PARK Thomas Gene Megahee Sr., 90, of Norman Park, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 16, at First Baptist Church of Norman Park with the Rev. Dudley Cook officiating. Burial will be at Big Creek Cemetery in Thomas County. Pallbearers will be Bob Meister, Terry Tillman, Billy Hickman, Julian Bennett, Carl Horne and James Lastinger. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church of Norman Park. Mr. Megahee was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Coolidge, the son of Thomas Earle Megahee and Gladys Teague Megahee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he was owner of Megahee Pharmacy. "He was a dedicated husband and father and supportive of the community," his family said. "He lived a Christian life and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Norman Park, where he was a deacon for over 50 years." Survivors include his wife Bernice Sanders Megahee, Norman Park, two sons, Tom Megahee, Houston, Texas, and Jeff Megahee, Athens; a daughter, Ann Adams and husband Gary, Norman Park; and a daughter-in-law, Dede Megahee, Norman Park; grandchildren, Jon Tanner Megahee, Norman Park, Ty Megahee and wife Susan, Macon, and Josi Megahee Lewis and husband Joseph, Camilla; and great-grandchildren, Mallory Kate Megahee and Baylie Anne Lewis. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Gene Megahee Jr. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Tift Area: 618 N. Central Ave., Tifton, GA 31794 or to First Baptist Church of Norman Park.
