Virgel R. Skipper (PICTURE) (VETERAN) BERLIN Virgel R. Skipper, 96, of Berlin, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at his residence. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., today, Oct. 29, at Sardis Cemetery with Pastor Howard G. Burke officiating. Born July 6, 1918, in Barwick, Ga., he was the son of the late Virgil Skipper and Lou Norman Skipper. He retired from the Colquitt County Board of Education maintenance department after 22 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during W.W.II. He was a member of China Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Virgil E. Skipper; and brothers, Vester L. Skipper and Dolphus Skipper. Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Giles Skipper of Berlin; a daughter, Sheila Louise Burke and husband Howard of Omega; grandchildren, Sandi Burke Chason and husband Gil of Tallahassee, Fla., Cindi S. Bennett and husband Marty of Omega and Stacey Joann Norris and husband Rob of Tucson, Ariz.; and ten great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
