Virginia Lou Miller Wiard

Virginia Lou Miller Wiard, 79, of Moultrie, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 29, 2024. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Dwight Marshall and Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Indian Creek Church Cemetery. Chad Hodges, Nicholas Hodges, Jason Sutton, Jeremy Sutton, Rylee Wiard, and Reese Wiard will serve as pallbearers. Owen Sutton and Olivia Sutton will be honorary pallbearers. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. 

Born on March 3, 1945, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Archie Miller and Mildred Miller May and husband Ellis May. Virginia Lou retired from Riverside Manufacturing after serving as a supervisor. Following her retirement, she found joy in sewing for the public, cooking, and, above all, traveling. She was an active member of Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church, where she contributed to her community. Above all, she loved her family dearly and cherished the time she spent with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jacob Spencer Sutton; great-granddaughter, Willa Grace Hodges; and brother, Daniel Miller. 

Mrs. Wiard is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mack Lanier Wiard, Sr. of Moultrie; daughters, Robbye Wiard Hodges and husband Charles of Moultrie, Ellen Wiard Sutton and husband James of Norman Park; son, Mack Lanier Wiard, Jr. and wife Lori Beth of Moultrie; grandchildren, Chad Hodges and wife Kayla, Nicholas Hodges and wife Kendl, Jason Sutton and wife Rachel, Jeremy Sutton and wife Samantha, Rylee Wiard, and Reese Wiard; great-grandchildren, Ellianna Hodges, Waylon Hodges, Owen Sutton, Olivia Sutton, Judd Sutton, and Aubree Sutton; and sister, Eula Vickers.
