Virlyn Russell Sauls, 78, of Omega, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Carl Vinson V. A. Medical Center in Dublin, Ga. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, at Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in Wrights Chapel Cemetery in Worth County with Buddy Warren, Allen Beggs, Brian Taft, Shannon Taft, Turner Sauls and Ray Dean Sauls serving as pallbearers. Born June 8, 1933, in Omega, he was the son of the late Thomas Allen Sauls and Georgie Mae Noble Sauls. He was an industrial engineer for J. P. Stevens Textile Mill and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Sauls; a sister, Hilda Warren; and a grandchild, Travis Allen Sauls. Survivors include his wife, Laverne Tompkins Sauls of Omega; sons, Ray Dean Sauls, Randall Eugene Sauls and Rodney Emerson Sauls, all of Scooterville, Ga.; and Russell Laverne Sauls and wife Jennifer of Sumner, Ga.; daughters, Carol Ann Sauls Taft and husband Brian of Albany, Ga., and Cindy Elizabeth Sauls Beggs and husband Allen of Omega; brothers, Charlie Sauls and wife Josephine of Ocilla, Rufus "Boots" Sauls and wife Barbara of Sneads, Fla., and John Sauls and wife Linda of Omega; a sister, Sandra Sauls of Tifton, Ga.; grandchildren, Ashley Diane Ring and husband Paul of Eldorado, Ga., Lyla Taft, Shannon Taft, Olivia Taft and Rebecca Taft, all of Albany, Ga., Turner Sauls of Sumner, Ga., and Brandon Scott Parker of Sylvester, Ga.; and a great-grandchild, Zack Ring.
