Wilma Ruth Hufstetler Cavender PAVO Wilma Ruth Hufstetler Cavender, 84, of Pavo, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at Lebanon Cemetery in Pavo with the Rev. Tim Van Landingham. Born Nov. 12, 1929, in Cherokee County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Cecil Hurley and Margie Parker Hurley. She moved to Atlanta with family upon graduation from high school and she began her 36-year career with Bell Telephone Company. She rose to the position of executive secretary. She was married to the late Bill Cavender for 62 years. They raised a son, Bobby. They enjoyed traveling west in their travel trailer, family recounted. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Carl Cavender; and brother, Charles Hufstetler. Survivors include brother-in-law, Patrick Cavender and wife Elinor of Texas; sister-in-laws, Blanche Gary of Tampa, Fla., Jackie Cavender of Monticello, Fla., and Jean Hufstetler of Snelleville, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.
